Update 30th September 2025

PKF Littlejohn has advised it is unable to formally complete the review of the Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR) for the year end 31 March 2025.  They have issued an ‘interim’ external auditor report (Section 3 of the AGAR Form 3) which sets out the reasons why the review was not completed – ‘”We have not been able to complete our review work in time to enable the smaller authority to publish the required documentation in line with statutory requirements.’

Malmesbury Town Council is required to:-

·         Prepare and publish a Notice of audit’ which details the rights of inspection in line with statutory requirements.

·         Publish this notice before 30 September 2025, which must include publication of the smaller authority’s website.

·         Keep copies of the AGAR available for purchase by any person

·         Ensure Sections 1 & 2 and 3 of the published AGAR remain available for public access for a period of not less than 5 years from the date of publication.
