COVID-19 Parking Update

28 May 2020

Parking in Malmesbury ready for Phased Re-Opening of Shops & Businesses

We have just been advised that Wiltshire Council will be re-introducing all parking controls and parking charges in Malmesbury from Monday 1st June. We will post the official Wiltshire Council press release when we receive it. In the meantime, we wanted to give residents as much notice as possible.

We appreciate this may cause difficulties for some town centre residents who are currently parking cars in the Cross Hayes and on the High Street while they are working from home. We have therefore made temporary arrangements for free parking until the end of June for up to 25 cars for town centre residents who have no other alternative parking solutions.

Residents who would like to take this up should email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Applications will be dealt with on a first come, first served basis. You will need to provide your name, address, phone number, car registration and make, and confirm you have no other parking arrangement available to you.

Malmesbury Town Team, in partnership with Malmesbury Town Council, has also been continuing consultation with local retailers, businesses and community groups to provide the best support possible as the phased re-opening of shops, businesses and the hospitality sector continues in both a safe and welcoming way. We have submitted plans to Wiltshire Council to widen pavement areas in the upper High Street and parts of Oxford Street and change some parking arrangements, for example the temporary removal of car parking in the Upper High Street to create more space for pedestrians, and provide helpful information and signage. We expect signage to be in position and parking changes implemented around the 12th June in advance of the next phase of retail and business re-opening on the 15th June. Further updates will be given over the next few days.
