Garden and art competitions are blooming marvellous for Malmesbury

Garden and art competitions are blooming marvellous for Malmesbury

There’s no need to own a gorgeous garden, as there are categories to suit all, including ones for hanging baskets, patios and window boxes.

For those wanting to enter their entire street or area, there is a category for this too. Businesses are also included, thanks to the commercial premises award.

Although sustainability doesn’t have its own category, there is a Sustainable Cup awarded for adopting a sustainable approach to gardening; for example, planting to encourage wildlife, using peat-free compost and avoiding chemicals.

The closing date for entries is Friday July 14 and judging is planned for Friday July 21.

Running in conjunction is the Malmesbury in Bloom Multi-Media Art Competition. This is open to anyone aged 18 or under, who lives in Malmesbury or attends a nursery, pre-school or school setting in the town. It is also open to pupils at Lea & Garsdon School. The deadline is Friday July 21.

“At Malmesbury Town Council, we’ve once again been creating floral displays to enhance our beautiful town, delight residents and welcome visitors.  The gardening efforts of residents and businesses also makes a big difference to the look of lovely Malmesbury,” said Town Mayor, Cllr Gavin Grant.

“We’d like local residents, businesses, and children to share their green-fingered endeavours and enter one – or more – of the Malmesbury in Bloom Garden Competition categories or the Malmesbury in Bloom Multi-Media Art Competition.

“Both competitions and our civic floral displays are made possible thanks to the generous and valued support of local businesses and organisations.”

More information about the competitions, along with entry forms, is available on the Malmesbury Town Council website, at https://www.malmesbury.gov.uk/ or email the Tourist Information Centre at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
