New Malmesbury Digital Gift Card - Now you can pay with your phone!

Love using your phone to pay? Here comes the NEW digital Malmesbury GIFT CARD……and just in time for Christmas!

With the desire to shop local as strong as ever and Christmas on the horizon,  Malmesbury Town Team are excited to announce Malmesbury is one of the first towns in the UK to use gift card technology which makes it possible to send a digital gift card in seconds.

Simply visit www.malmesburygiftcard.com and send an e-card to the recipient’s phone as either a text or email. Using the Love Local app, the recipient can add the e-card balance to their digital wallet, and make  purchases using Apple Pay or Google Pay, either online or in-store.

The Malmesbury Gift Card gives friends, family and loved ones, the ultimate choice in how to enjoy their present from you and avoids gifts they might not really want or need. Accepted in over 34 shops, restaurants, attractions, salons and service providers in and around Malmesbury, your purchase and gift of a gift card locks in local spend.

The introduction of this new digital gift card in Malmesbury shows you don’t have to be a big city to utilise technology which enhances shop local efforts, and makes convenient digital gifting a reality. There’s a new Collect and Click service too! Simply pick up a blank Malmesbury Gift Card at The Wild Food Company or the Town and Tourist Information Centre at the Town Hall when shopping in town, and load it with value at home using www.loadthiscard.com before you use it yourself or give it as a present. Cards can also be bought and loaded with values from £5 to £500 at the same outlets or online at www.malmesburygiftcard.com.

These latest initiatives have been implemented by Malmesbury Town Team, a voluntary organisation working in collaboration with the Town Council. Campbell Ritchie from Malmesbury Town Team said “One of the Town Team’s goals is to make ‘shop local’ a way of life. Having the ability to send a digital Malmesbury Gift Card instantly, for the recipient to load it into their digital wallet and pay using their phone, makes the gift card even more fun to use.

Emily Hepworth, owner of florist Persephone Violet, is proud to see Malmesbury leading the way with its new digital gift card: “We’ve been part of the physical gift card scheme from the start because it’s like our own currency for the town, encouraging money to remain within our town. It also brings people into the shop that maybe wouldn’t have shopped with us at Persephone Violet before. As a small market town, Malmesbury has already done well by having its own gift card. This new digital gift card is even more amazing and another string in Malmesbury’s bow. I think the real benefit of the digital Malmesbury Gift Card is it will make it easier for people to spend them. You’re not going to lose a digital card, because it’s there on your phone. Collect and Click a new card will be handy too, as people can pick up the card and decide how much they want to load later”.
